European Championship training preparations to begin in Formia on Monday

Italy Women’s Under-19 National Team will begin their first lot of preparations for the European Championship on Monday, as they start their camp at the Olympic Training Center in Formia. The team will be gearing up for the upcoming tournament scheduled to take place in Northern Ireland from the 8th to 20th August. For the first stage of training in Formia, a total of 24 players have been called up by coach Enrico Sbardella. This initial camp will last from 17th to the 27th July, consisting of fitness tests and training, which will ultimately help the Azzurrine coach select his final list of 19 players. Sbardella’s final squad will then take part in the second phase of training in Rome from 31st July, before then flying to Northern Ireland on August 4th.

Having qualified thanks to a dramatic 2-1 victory in their final Elite Round match against Norway, Italy have since been placed into Group B and will make their tournament debut against England in Lurgan on Tuesday 8th August. The Azzurrine will then take on reigning champions France on Friday 11th August, before then playing their final group match against the Netherlands on Monday 14th July in Portadown. All three matches will begin at 15:00 local time (16:00 CEST).

The first two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, while the top four teams at the European Championship will also qualify for the World Cup in France next year.
