8 Nations. Italy start strong with a 3-0 win over Poland

The Under-20 National team got off to a solid start in the 8 Nations Tournament on Thursday, as they beat Poland 3-0. A brace from Kean and a goal from Scamacca was enough to secure the win at the Miejski Stadion – the same location for the first and final match of the World Cup next year.

The game’s opening goal came after just four minutes, as Kean fired a fierce right-footed strike past the Polish shot-stopper. The second came in the 37th minute, as Scamaaca made no mistake from an indirect free-kick in the penalty area. Italy’s dominance continued after the interval, with Kean scoring the third and final goal in the 66th minute.

Coach Paolo Nicolato was delighted with the Azzurrini’s performance: “It was a wonderful team performance, full of sacrifice and commitment. Despite whatever changes to the team, this is a group that still tries to find the right solutions in every match.” Meanwhile, Nicolato had this to say about goalscorer Kean: “He is a lad that puts himself at the service of the team and never lets up for the entire game.”
