Azzurrini in search of fifth gold at the Mediterranean Games

The Under-18 National Team will represent Italy at the multi-sport Mediterranean Games that begin on 22nd June in Tarragona, Spain. Coach Daniele Franceschini has named 18 players in his squad for the 18th edition of the tournament and the players will assemble from Saturday 16th June in Formia.  

Italy are in Group B and will make their first appearance on Friday 22nd June in Calafell against Morocco. On Tuesday 26th June, Libya will the opponents on Tuesday 26th June in La Poba de Mafumet (times TBC). The top sides from Groups A and B (consisting of three teams) and the top two from Group C (consisting of four teams) will qualify for the semi-finals on Thursday 28th June. 

Italy took part with the Under-19 team in Mersin (Turkey) in 2013 while in 2009, an Under-20 side lost in the final in Pescara. Italy are the side who have the most editions of the tournament after finishing triumphant in 1959, 1963, 1967 and 1997.
