The Under-21 National Team’s training continued this morning with training at the Città dello Sport in Ferentino ahead of the friendly on Tuesday at 18:30 CET against Russia at Frosinone’s Stadio Benito Stirpe. The Azzurrini will be back in Frosinone eleven years since a goalless draw with the Czech Republic on 14th November 2006 at the Stadio Matusa.
At the new stadium which opened two months ago, Manuele Locatelli will be in search of his first Under-21 goal and he captained the side during Thursday’s unofficial friendly against Zeman’s Pescara. “It’s always nice to wear the armband,” said the Milan midfielder to Rai Sport. “It was a great satisfaction and I thank the Coach.”
On Tuesday against Russia, Italy can pick up their fourth straight win after victories over Slovenia, Hungary and Morocco. “It will be hard, we’ll give everything on the pitch and we want to win in order to not disappoint the fans who come to support us,” added Locatelli. “We have to play this game to get up to match tempo that there will be at the European Championship.” Tomorrow night, the Azzurrini will be in front of the TV to support the National Team in the second leg of the World Cup play-off against Sweden. “We’re all with them and the San Siro can give an important push.”
The match with Russia will be officially presented tomorrow at 14:00 CET in the presence of Mayor Nicola Ottaviani, Valentina Sementilli, Gianpiero Fabrizi, Frosinone Calcio President Maurizio Stirpe, National Teams Director Giorgio Bottaro and Under-21 National Team Coach Luigi Di Biagio.
