Happy Birthday to both Belotti and Jorginho!

Azzurri duo Belotti and Jorginho are today both celebrating their birthdays, turning 24 and 26 respectively.

Born in Calcinate in the province of Bergamo on 20th December 1993, Andrea Belotti grew up in the Albinoleffe youth system. He made his debut in Serie B for the club during the 2011-12 season as an 18-year-old and finished the season with eight appearances and two goals. He then made 32 appearances and scored twelve goals in both the league and Coppa Italia after moving down to Lega Pro. In 2013, he moved to Palermo on a co-ownership deal where he would go on to win Serie B in Sicily while scoring ten goals from 24 appearances as the Rosanero signed the remaining 50 per cent of his rights from Albinoleffe. In 2015, he moved to Torino on a permanent deal where he still plays, scoring twelve goals in 35 matches during his first season in Piedmont.

After playing with the Under-19s and Under-20s, Belotti marked his Under-21 debut with a goal in August 2013 in a friendly against Slovakia, which Italy won 4-1. He also featured in qualification for the 2015 Under-21 European Championship. He received his first senior call-up from Gian Piero Ventura on 27th August 2016, so far making 13 Azzurri appearances and scoring four goals.

Jorge Luiz Frello Filho, better known as Jorginho, was born in Imbituba (Brazil). As a gifted midfielder, he came through the youth ranks at Hellas Verona and make his first-team debut in the lower leagues under the guidance of Mandorlini back on September 4th 2011. His first top-tier appearance came on August 24th 2013 against Milan, before he then opened his Serie A account on September 25th against Torino. With many potential suitors and attention all across Europe, Napoli managed to secure his signature back in January 2014, a team with whom he still plays.

He acquired Italian citizenship back in 2012 and was duly called up for Mangia’s Under-21 side for their match against Spain back on 13th November 2012. He was then selected by then-coach Conte on March 19th 2014 for the National Team’s friendlies against Germany and Spain, making his debut against the latter on March 24th. He has so far made three appearances for the Azzurri.
