Made in Italy: The best performances from week 37 as rated by the press

Here’s where we publish the top player ratings for Italians as awarded by the country’s three bestselling sports newspapers (La Gazzetta dello SportCorriere dello Sport and Tuttosport).

Andrea CONSIGLI (G 8; C 8; T 7)     Inter 1-2 Sassuolo

It was a valuable away win for Sassuolo and perhaps the best performance of what has been a tough season. Consigli shone once more. He saved all that was humanly possible and he left Icardi despairing on multiple occasions. A great amount of credit for the win goes to him.

Christian PUGGIONI (G 7,5; C 8; T 7)     Benevento 1-0 Genoa

Although the result meant nothing at the end of the season, this was a prestigious and important win in terms of honour. With three great saves at the end, the Campania side’s goalkeeper saved the result and the team’s pride.

Emanuele GIACCHERINI (G 7,5; C 7,5; C 7)     Bologna 1-2 Chievo

The value of the three points is immeasurable, bringing Chievo out of the relegation zone with 90 minutes left in the season. For all of this, Giaccherini led the comeback with a stunning goal that spurred the comeback win for the Verona side.
