The friendly between the Under-20 National Team and Italy B ended 2-2 at the Stadio Benito Stirpe in Frosinone. The Under-20 side twice took the lead but Massimo Piscedda’s side did well to respond and level through goals from Gabriele Moncini. Luigi Di Biagio and FIGC Vice-Commissioner Alessandro Costacurta were in attendance and presented with a Lega B shirt at half-time.
The Azzurrini went ahead in the 33rd minute when Panico set up Torino’s Simone Edera who picked out the corner to fire his side ahead.
Italy B were more aggressive in the second half with Moncini beating Alastra one-on-one after 77 minutes. Three minutes, later the youth side took the lead again thanks to an explosive strike from Spezia’s Pessina. Five minutes from the end, a delightful pass from Bifulco sent Moncini through on Alastra to make it 2-2.
It was a good test for Italy’s Federico Guidi, “I was able to evaluate the condition of the players after not seeing them since November. It was an excellent first half and the second half was less good because the team became stretched and gave Italy B the chances to come back. All the same, I’m satisfied and I saw things that say we can approach the final two 8 Nations Tournament matches in good shape.
