Sports Minister Lotti visits the Azzurrini: “You’re an example for

After Luigi Di Biagio gave his players a day of rest, the five senior players who were picked by Gian Piero Ventura joined up with the Under-21 squad. The group is now complete following the arrivals of Donnarumma, Conti, Pellegrini, Gagliardini and Bernardeschi two days ahead of departure for Poland. The opening fixture will be on Sunday 18th June at 20:45 CEST in Krakow against Denmark.

In the morning, the Azzurrini were visited by the Minister for Sport Luca Lotti who greeted the players and staff and wished them luck at the Fulvio Bernardini centre in Trigoria. The minister had lunch with manager Luigi Di Biagio and his team. “I’ve come here to bring the government’s greetings and to wish the players luck for the Under-21 European Championship. We’ll all be supporting you. Despite your young age, lots of young people look to you as role models so you have a great responsibility.”

“I want to thank the Minister Lotti for today’s visit and for the attention he has always paid to football and the Azzurri in particular,” said Carlo Tavecchio. “It’s the first time that a minister has in personally greeted the team before an important tournament such as the one in Poland. For institutions to be close and fans enthusiastic is vital for us to achieve our objectives and in the future.”
