The new-look Under-21 Italy side under Luigi Di Biagio is starting again with a young, technical and dynamic midfield. Cagliari vs. Crotone will therefore provide an opportunity to see Nicolò Barella and Rolando Mandragora face off and they’re at the centre of this week’s statistical comparison powered by Opta.
Always present for the first 180 minutes of the 2017/18 season, both have also featured in recent Azzurrini friendlies. Barella has attempted 108 passes and completed 81.5 per cent of them. The new Under-21 captain Mandragora has attempted 68 with a success rate of 68.8 per cent. The player owned by Juventus shines in a defensive capacity with 19 duels won with a success rate of 63.6 per cent. He has intercepted the ball seven times, won it back ten times and triumphed in six aerial duels. His counterpart has won the ball back eleven times with six interceptions. There is no mark against either yet from a disciplinary perspective.
Yet to score or deliver an assist, the two Azzurrini have created four and six goalscoring chances respectively.
