The Under-21 National Team have already begun their long path towards towards the hosting of the 2019 European Championship in Italy, although they’ve now had another two fixtures added to their schedule. Previously, Luigi Di Biagio’s side took part in two friendlies at the start of September, initially losing to Spain in Toledo, before then redeeming themselves against Slovenia at the Stadio Tombolato in Cittadella. Now, the Azzurrini will return to action on Thursday 5th October at the Szusza Ferenc Stadion in Budapest (20:00 CEST) as they take on hosts Hungary, before then facing Morocco on Tuesday 10th October at the Stadio Paolo Mazza in Ferrara (18:30)
There have been a total of 14 previous fixtures between Italy and Hungary (eight wins for the Azzurrini, as well as four draws and two defeats), while the Morocco match will be the first time the two Under-21 sides have ever clashed. The Under-21 National Team have never lost when playing in Ferrara, winning all matches played between 1990 and 2008. The list of defeated opponents include: Hungary, Sweden, Bulgaria, Wales and the Netherlands.
