The first Vivo Azzurro Cup, a 7-a-side football competition for members of the National Team’s Fan Community, ended in victory for the Italy 1968 team. It was organised by FIGC Vivo Azzurro as part of the celebrations for the FIGC’s 120th anniversary.
In a festive atmosphere that involved all of the participants, eight teams consisting of eleven players and a coach faced each other on the pitches belonging to the Federal Technical Centre in Coverciano, the place where the Azzurri train.
After the elimination rounds in the morning and lunch in the National Team’s restaurant, the semi-finals and final were held in the afternoon.
It was Italy 1968 who triumphed after they won 3-2 in the final game against Italy 1982.
The winners were awarded the shirts of the National Team and a VIP Experience, which all members of the team will be able to enjoy when the Azzurri take to the field in the Nations League for Roberto Mancini’s first game as the Head Coach on 7 September in Bologna.
96 people took part in the tournament: fathers, children, groups of friends and individuals from not just all over Italy, but also from Germany and France. They all shared a passion for the Azzurri and a desire to experience something unique in what was a day for champions!
